What makes TUQTULI unique?

Tuqtuli is the first to use collective intelligence to develop a language – on the largest scale imaginable. Inviting people from all over the world to collaborate has never been done before. Unlike other languages, it does not need to be learned. More than a language, it is a principle of communication and constant transformation is its nature.

More than 7,000 languages are spoken around the world – mostly with people from within the own »bubble«. Being able to communicate with each other without speaking the same language has so far remained a dream of mankind.

Communication using sequences of symbols was practiced by all early cultures. In the early 20th century, the idea reappeared. Today we are learning to understand myriads of pictograms, symbols, icons, and logos. Half-consciously we already string emojis together. A good precondition to collectively realize a world language consisting of sequences of the signs of our time.

Pictographic languages developed by individuals so far remained unsuccessful because the incentive to learn and use them was too small. After all, all living languages are the work of many. This sparked Julis idea of using collective intelligence.

The more a language is used and enriched, the more understandable it becomes. Hence our aim to invite people from the most diverse sociotopes, sectors, generations, languages and cultures as designers and testers. This unprecedented bottom-up approach is participatory, inclusive and regionally differentiated. Tuqtuli is about creating with people, not for them. Namely, in heterogeneous groups and working transdisciplinary. Cross-border and cross-discipline creativity may reach new levels.

Language is notoriously a lively matter that constantly evolves over times. Transformation is therefore an integral part of tuqtuli, from iconversation to iconversation. It is in its DNA to become a self-running and self-learning system.

While languages need to be learned, this is not necessary with tuqtuli. In this respect, it is more of a communication principle than a language.

The unrivalled advantage of tuqtuli is not to have a fixed set of visual vocabulary and one »correct« way to use them. Instead ever new signs and pictogrammatic approaches are being invited in all the time. This makes the process intuitive, experience-based, and deeply democratic.
